Consequences of 120m limit removal

Hello all,

Coming from an Air 2s, i bought a Mini 5 with RC2. After an update i have noticed the max height limit set to 120m. Now i have two questions:

- removing the height limit by requesting dji to do it what further implications have? Not necessarily legal, but regarding updates. I ve read on dji website that the drone will be limited to further C0 software updates. What does this exactly means?
- when i clicked on the QR code to file the application, dji asked me to complete my address so that they [?] could deliver me new stickers [in Romania?] and instructions to where to put those stickers and upload photos with them
- besides that, is there any hack that will remove the limit on the RC2? [Comfu and hussle free method]. I really downgraded from the Air series just to escape this class/legal hustle, and fly stuff without a headache, and now i am really disappointed as i wouldn.t have expected that height limit to be that harsh.

Drone hacks has a software solution that i use for my mavic 3 and mini 3 pro. However, I don't think they have anything available for mini 5 at this point. It seems the newer dji drones are harder to hack.

Flying above 120m requires you to request autorization to do so in any case. You can't apply for that without a license so the limit for unlicensed C0 aircraft is 120m.

You can switch it to C1 to remove that, but then legally need to be licensed and request authotization when you want to fly >120m. Refer to your country's regulations.

Why would you need to be any higher than 120m anyway. As a pilot, I would not want drones up there being flown by people who have no regard for my safety or my passenger's safety by being up in my airspace. A drone is far too small to be able to be seen, when flying an airplane.

On the ground I can assure you that you have no idea of your actual altitude in relation to another aircraft being in the air near you. Yes you can see on the controller, but you have no idea of the altitude of the other aircraft, in your vicinity.

Wanting to be able to fly higher than 120m is a selfish, irresponsible request, not to mention dangerous, to pilots and passengers, flying in their aircraft up there. I fly a drone and a real aircraft, so I appreciate the reason for the 120m limit, and it is for our safety, not your pleasure.

I understand your position. Safety is always #1. I often fly in remote areas of Utah and Arizona, launching from the bottom of deep canyons that can often be 500 to 1000 feet deep or more. I fly to the top plateaus which is basically ground level for the rest of the world. Then I'm only flying 100 ft or less AGL. But I need to get out of the canyon and the drone reads elevation from the launch point.

In such cases, I can understand the need to go higher. With that said, why not simply start on top at, as you put it, ground level. Which go down into a canyon that you will need to fly out of, in the first place? Seems a no brainer for me.
