Does the latest Mavic firmware prevent flights in restricted space?

Last time I took the drone up, for a few seconds before the GPS fully locked in it thought i was near a school and popped up a warning, but I was able to dismiss it.

I thought if the drone thinks it's in restricted airspace, it wont fly. You need to get some sort of release code from DJI to re-enable it. Is this not correct?

Nope. There's different "levels" of NFZ in the DJI world.

There's advisory zones, warning zones, enhanced warning zones, and no fly zones.

You can freely fly in advisory zones and warning zones. Warning zones will show a popup that can be dismissed. Enhanced warning zones need the unlock from DJI (unless you flip the GEO switch in older versions of the Go4 app), and NFZ is no fly period....unless you've got special permission from flysafe@dji.
