I didn't see anything in your post #14 about you spinning the drone around several times like slup says happened with the OP.

Turning the aircraft manually is not part of any relevant sequence of events unless it results in the aircraft then being placed in an external interfering magnetic field. Adding or subtracting equipment is the only part that matters from the point of view of the internal magnetic field.
