How often do you forget to remove the Gimbal Clamp?

Never use the clamp. Only use it once when I pack up Mavic to travel out west.

Are people in that much of a hurry that they forget to take the gimbal lock off? It must just be me that i take my time setting up. I don’t see how you can forget to take that off its like muscle memory

I just printed a larger lock that comes out to the end of the lens. It's printed in white filament so it's hard to miss. I still think I'm going to modify it to have a small ring on it so I can attach a red "remove before flight" keychain on it. It might be overkill but my memory sucks so it will probably save my bacon sooner i later.

after owning the mavic for about 8 months, today for the first time i forgot to remove the gimbal clamp.. and my first time ever to get the gimbal motor overload warning, is that damaging or shorten my gimbal lifetime?

I have done this half a dozen times in the early days of having my Mavic and this has not had any adverse effects on my gimbal.

Every time you leave it the gimbal lock on when starting your drone, it will shorten your gimbal life. Maybe not noticeably, but it will surely have an adverse effect on its longevity. Best to buy a "Remove before flight" reminder such as the one below. I like this pennant to cover my power button, attached at one point in the front with velcro, so there's no way to power up the Mav without removing the gimbal lock.:

way i see it is if you cant remember to take the clamp off,your not really qualified to be a pilot and shouldn't be flying,it brings up the question-what else have you forgotten.

I’m in the forgot to remove club but only for the first 30 seconds or so or until the warning pops up. I used a piece of holiday red ribbon as a reminder on the gimbal protector. I’m more annoyed at myself than anything [emoji38]

Why take the risk of gimbal damage when placing the clamp takes all of possible two seconds? There are some good ideas posted here for reminders to remove the clamp. I have a mental check list of things to do prior to a flight. After a year with the Mavic, I have yet to forget to remove clamp before flight. Having said that, leave it to me to forget to remove clamp on my next flight.
