Before I bought my iPhone SE (2020) I used the original iPhone SE with my Mini and it worked flawlessly. The processor in the original SE was less capable than the one in your iPhone 8 so that’s unlikely to be the problem. The fact that it worked for you for a while also backs this up. Do you have any free storage space on your phone?
