We used poles for replacing fuses on High voltage overhead lines, I think they were made out of fiberglass.

Natural selection. Everyone knows not to mess with wires and high voltage. He could have easily called the public utility and they would have come down and removed and returned it with the proper equipment and trained personnel. Would it have been free? Probably not, but is being dead worth trying to save a buck? I am sure it would have been worth a few bucks to his family...

Just as well. Aside from being poorly written generally, it also misstated UAS regulations. Just really bad journalism (even our area's "flagship" paper is very poorly written, which is why I refuse to pay for a subscription). I don't even know if the article was biased. I think the author just needed space to fill and rather than actually investigate he/she just did a copy and past from knowbeforeyoufly.org.

Too bad about the fellow dying for the drone.
The takeaway for me from this article was even though there is a drone registry and there is many that are registered neither the men were pilots nor the drone was registered.
I guess it's not much different than people driving without a license or with a suspended license.

Same comment I made on PP - that's a really callous article focussing more on the airspace, the regulations and whether the drone was registered than the fact that someone was killed.

I was watching tennis on tv and clearly an airplane was flying over and the first thing the announcer lady said very concerned “ Is that a drone?” Drones have a very high pitch and sound nothing like a single engine plane. This kind of nonsense just feeds the hysteria.
