Mapping my property

I have some drainage issues on 2 1/2 acres. I'd like to have my Mavic 2 Pro "follow" me as I mow, and make a map of the altitude changes. Is that possible? Is there a better way?
Thanks

How much variation is there between high and low points on the property?
The obvious method would be to use mapping app to fly a mapping mission and do photogrammetric analysis.
Here's an example from a golf course showing 0.25 metre contours.

There are quite few free (in their basic forms) mapping apps for drones.
I have downloaded a few but never tried them, DroneDeploy, Pix4D, and one open source I haven't checked is opendronmap.org

Other than a specialised mapping type app above, DJI apps won't do what you want.

Thank you. I'm guessing that the total variation would be less than a meter (it's West Texas). 363 days a year there's no problem, and on the other two we're pretty busy.

I haven't found a mapping app that can do this; do you have a recommendation?

Thank you for your input.

Thank you; I missed your reply earlier. I appreciate the information!

Much better way would be to use dronedeploy or pix4d to fly a proper route and generate a proper DEM and orthomosaic.

If you only want it for a one off project the free trials will do it for you.

If you have a Smart Controller, only Pix4dwill work.

But this is exactly what theyre designed for.

Since you probably won't be using control points, you might get some elevations that are way off. DJI has a tendency to be 5-15m off sometimes. Here is what I would do. I would see if my county has a recent Lidar dataset (2016-2019). If they do, you can confidently download it and create contours, a DSM, etc. The Lidar pilots use dozens of control points and the counties hold them to a very high accuracy standard. If you don't mind sharing what state youre in, I can point you towards where to find this data.

I have an SC so I guess my options are Pix4D
As we speak, the SC is not officially supported by PIX4d, but they are working on it...
You may have to experiment with with different versions of the apps.
The latest version is pix4dcapture 4.8.0 and Ctrl+Dji version 1.9.9 (If you don't get a video live stream, use an older version)

The other alternative is using the DJI Pilot app which has mission (waypoint and mapping) capabilities.
This app is installed on your SC, but you are using a non Enterprise drone, so you have to install a different Pilot version - Pilot PE v1.6.1 to work with your M2P.
