I just placed an order for the basic Mini 5 Pro. I vaguely recall watching a Youtube video saying its battery is compatible with the Mini 4 (and Mini 3). Can anyone definitively confirm? So stoked regardless.

Same size, same shape, different weight, different voltage, different power output. So right but so wrong. There is at least one report of a drone losing power in flight and requiring repair while using a mini 3 pro battery.

DJI now says no.
The different voltages can lead to unpredictable results and in flight power shut off.

Thanks for replying. I have watched more Youtube videos on the subject and they were about 75% no problem to 25% you might have issues. I will safely test it once I receive it, but I will not take chances in actual use scenarios. I plan on taking the Mini 4 as a backup anyway the same way I took the Mini 3 as a backup.

LongRifle any issues getting this drone sent to the United States?

I’d heard that was the case but hadn’t tried again lately to order one. Did struggle to get the DJI Osmo Nano here in the states and now replacement parts and accessories are nearly impossible to get. Apologies if this is off topic.

I should receive it in a few days. I think the drone is already here in the States as it's being shipped from an Amazon warehouse. I ordered it off Amazon just like I would have a year ago. Someone in one of my DJI drone groups on Facebook posted that the basic (and flymore combo) was available for no more than DJI's price two days ago. Sadly, both are sold out now, but keep checking. I didn't think I'm gonna be able to get it this soon as I wasn't willing to pay a dime more than what DJI would've sold them for. I waited two years for my PS5 for the same reason.

Mini 3 and 4 batteries seem to be fully forward compatible. The Mini 5 battery does not work backwards which I don't care about as I already have 5 of the older batteries. I will test them and report back here.

That’s awesome. After reading your post I’d checked Amazon and noticed the crazy 3rd party pricing. A friend of mine managed to get the 4 a few months back when even that was hard to find. I’ve been debating getting the 5 since I’m still on a Mavic Air 2. Thanks.

I love my Air 2's slightly over saturated HDR videos. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's perfect in my eyes as I don't do any color grading. I've always wished it carried over to the Mini 3 and beyond.

See post #4 above. Unpredictable results, that can lead to catastrophic failure of your new Mini 5 Pro.
And I have been duly warned. Fortunately, I usually don't need more than one battery at each location, so the temptation isn't so great. I think I will just get a Mini 5 plus battery and call it good.

Amazon cancelled my order. I'm guessing Prime members got first dibs and left the rest of us out to dry. I'm saddened, but relieved as I wanted the Plus combo with the RCN2 or whatever the RC is with the built in screen after I hit the buy now button. The wait continues. I still have my very capable Mini 4 Pro and other drones to keep me entertained in the mean time.
