I saw some PreFlight Checklists posted here and on the net so I gleaned some info and put together a checklist that has been working for me. I'm attaching copies of the checklist to this post in Pages, Word and PDF format in case anyone wants to add/subtract items. The original was made with Pages so the Word version may require some formatting. The forum would not accept the Word or Pages document so I posted the links to my Dropbox account.

Hey not to be picky or anything but at what point do I turn my Mavic pro on?

Thanks.
Received my Mavic a couple days ago and completed most of the setup Monday evening. Will fly this weekend and try the checklist as a new owner.

I used the term "aircraft" instead of Mavic Pro because this is the closest thing I'll come to flying a real aircraft. All part of the fantasy.....Also, I thought I'd keep it generic for other models in the product line.

Here's the section about powering up the Mavic:

POWER ON AIRCRAFT

❏ Place Aircraft in Take-off Position

❏ Check Air Traffic Apps and Area for Obstructions or Flight Concerns

❏ Power On Aircraft. <---------

POWER ON REMOTE CONTROL

❏ Power On Remote Control

❏ Launch DJI Go Pro 4 App

I have played around with the startup sequence and it seemed to work regardless of the order....but I stuck with starting the Mavic, then connecting the Remote and then launching the Go 4 app.

Nice one, it will work in any order.
However the old hands will tell you to turn on the RC first. There are doubtless good reasons they can point out. An obvious one is so you can have immediate control of the aircraft when it starts up should it misbehave.
But for me the main reason is the flight data logs stored on the aircraft, will have a date stamp of the previous time it was flown, instead of the current day & time, if you DO NOT start the RC first. So start the RC first and it will be much easier if you subsequently have to pull the logs with DJI Assistant 2 for some reason.

Great list! Just got my mavic yesterday and have charged up all the batteries. Looking forward to optimizing my settings then using this list for my first flight this weekend, weather permitting!

Sent from my iPhone using MavicPilots

great list. I would add to trun the stupid CRC or whatever it is called off before you fly so your mav won't fall out of the sky accidently with the wrong movement of the sticks.

I would think you should power up the RC before the aircraft. Would suck if it took off before you had the RC on.

Very helpful, thanks. I was excited to fly today during lunch and probably skip some of those steps so I will slow down and try to be more methodical in the future .

Just to clarify....I made a mistake in the original posting which has been corrected in the checklists. You SHOULD ALWAYS start the Remote Control before starting the drone for several good reasons. Here's an explanation from one of the other users that corrected my mistake.....

Again...start the Remote Control before th Mavic.....

Yesterday I got green and red flashing alternatively... The app told me I was in a no fly zone so could it have been that or something else? (don't see it in manual and the flashing continued for a while...)

Thanks Chas D. Excellent. I pointed this out to a guy who hasn't had a chance to fly yet and needed some encouragement.
