I did watch the video, and understand all that!
I suspect that you've misunderstood much of what you watched.
I assume that you are much younger than me, so your data sharing doesn't matter to you, as you've probably grown up with it. I haven't.
If you look at my details, you'll see that I'm considerably older than you are.
I've also been flying DJI drones for >10 years and understand very well what what you stated in your initial post just isn't true.
You can fly all you like and DJI won't have any idea what you are doing.
Your anxiety is misplaced and your assumptions about flying DJI are as accurate as your assumptons about me.

Hi M,

The subject has gone on a bit, because of what I've mentioned. I assume that you are much younger than me, so your data sharing doesn't matter to you, as you've probably grown up with it. I haven't.

I’m 70 and all my data has been out in the internet due to a variety of various companies allowing my and others data to be compromised multiple times. Our data is like our homes, if someone really wants in they can get in.

Do you guys really provide genuine info when most of these companies have no way of checking? Obviously pick something you can remember if you need to confirm, say, date of birth but I don’t see any reason to provide REAL data to some foreign company who probably can’t look after it properly….

I know you are in the UK and things are different there than here in the US. For instance, you drive on the wrong side of the road… You weigh yourselves in "stones," while we weigh ourselves in pounds (and not in your money…), but as you might say, "keeping the books" is nothing new…

I and my wife are both in our mid '70s and I was first born and my wife was the fourth child and we were both born in the same general area… On my birth certificate, there are check marks for whether my mother was married (she was…) and if she had been tested for syphilis (she was…). Back in the early '50s, after the wars (WWII and Korea), all first time mothers were tested for syphilis and marital status was noted…

My wife's birth certificate was a different form as her mother had given birth before and it notes that my wife was the fourth birth and no mention of her mother's marital status or testing for syphilis.

I guess that they (the authorities…) back then figured that anyone having given birth previously was obviously married and that married couples would never stray and bring home an uninvited guest…

And I will not even start with how the Brits are notorious for class separation and keeping track of a father's/mother's family status… L :DL . . .

Hi M,
I looked at your details, and I am quite a bit older than you.
If I want to be anxious, I will be :)

And I did not even tell you that I am first generation… My Mother is a Scot, she and her parents (my grandparents are from the Edinburgh and after WWI, they immigrated to Canada and ultimately to the US. If she had not become a Naturalized US citizen (along with her parents) before she married my father (a Russian immigrant from under the Czar…), I would have been eligible for dual citizenship as a Brit and an American…

And if you want to see a video that carries the story even farther...

I suspect that many people with so what they refer to as privacy concerns would flinch at the idea of a public print publication that provided their names, street addresses, and telephone number to the literate world. These books were printed by the hundreds of millions and distributed by part-time employees of major telecommunications companies who dropped them without notice on the doorsteps, sidewalks, and porches or essentially every residence in the country.

They were known as phone books and they're still being printed and distributed in some locations.

I also wonder why some folks are so concerned about their vehicle's license plate showing in a photo, but have no qualms about driving in public with them plainly visible to everyone.

Totally agree.
What about all those mailing lists out there created long before people were concerned about data privacy.

A 3rd party vendor for a company I worked for that my data had been shared with had a data breach. I had no control over my data being shared and actually didn’t know it happened until I received notification.

Hey every been to the hospital?

Knowing my data is out there I do things to protect myself.

Hi,
For those that seem happy to share their information, (and I don't mind if it helps in some way like a vehicle in the burglary location), one example is stalking numbers have risen since there's been more sharing.

If you ask yourself, why is my data so valuable for it to be sold, and then 'say' wonder why your car insurance is more than your neighbours for the same car, this may be the answer.

As this thread isn't for this subject, I'll leave it here, and leave anyone to carry on.
Cheers, and happy flying, C

I started to log in, and was faced with terms and conditions that go on for miles, where it states all of the information about the pilot that will be shared with DJI and others, which seem to me to be over the top, 'if I understand it correctly'.
Back in post #19, I said ...
>> You are worrying about nothing and it sounds like you haven't read the details properly.

>> How much do you think you have to share with DJI?
>>The actual answer is nothing at all.
>>There's really nothing to be concerned about.
>>DJI don't know when, where or how you fly
>>If you don't choose to upload your flight data to their server, they never get to see them (but if you did, nothing would ever come of it).

>>You are worrying about nothing and it sounds like you haven't read the details properly.

You completely ignored it and carried on as if you know all there is to know about flying DJI.
... so I'm saying it again.

Hi,

How are you so certain that your precious data is being taken from you?
I'm convinced that you have no idea at all about what you've imagined.
You haven't been able to provide any specifics, just your vague complaint that DJI will steal your data.
Read what I posted earlier and come back with a proper response rather than ignoring it.
