Dear friends, I am a newly drone flyer. I am wondering for safe places to fly near home without getting in trouble of course.
If anyone can send me a safe location near Harrow will be amazing. I am checking all kind of fly safe webs and maps etc and I am going a bit crazy.
Thanks in advance !

Welcome, it might be an idea to say where this Harrow is. ahh you beat me to it by a second or so.

I think I haven't mention Harrow in the UK! hahaha!
But thank you all for your fast reply and willing to help!
No, you didnt LOL but one of our UK folks can help you

I am a newly drone flyer.

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA. We have a Member's Map in the Upper Right of the Title Bar. Click on "Members" and then Click on "Member's Map…" Check it out and you might find some new flying friends.

Since you live in the UK, there are specific laws and rules for you to follow, please check to ensure these are current.

From your responses, I'm taking a wild guess that you have not done any of the legal things you are required to do before flying a drone in the UK…

From the nebulous location you offer, Harrow, you are somewhere Northeast of Heathrow and Northold (a military base), Now you are going to have to do more than what you have done thus far or you might find you and your little drone being taken away for violating controlled Airspace… So do the legal stuff, contact local organizations in Harrow (the UK…).

In the mean time, here is some Good Old Fashion Advice…

You paid a lot of money for that Drone, put your phone number on it. If your drone gets lost or stuck in a tree and it finally comes down when you are not around, give the finders an opportunity to contact you so it can be returned.

Now, for the Fun Part, But do not let the excitement of the moment get the best of you. When you are going out to fly, do it slowly and deliberately. Get used to a set procedure and even practice it.

There are so many things I could write but these are the highlights that I feel need mentioning.

Plug in your phone/tablet into your controller; turn on the Controller and DJI Fly App (if it does not start on its own…). On the Drone, open the front legs, then open the back legs, and then remove the Gimbal Cover.

The Gimbal is the most delicate item on the Drone and banging or bumping can damage it. I also fastened a short "Remove Before Flight" ribbon to the cover so it's more noticeable and I do not forget to remove it…

Turn on the drone and watch it come to "life." Watching the Gimbal go through its self-check is almost like watching a puppy or kitten opening its eyes for the first time…

Place the drone down (preferably on a Landing Pad) while it finishes its self-test (collecting satellites, etc…).

Check your battery status (Phone, Drone, and Controller), check the Signal Strength, by now the Controller should have reported it updated the Home Point.

Lift off, 6 feet (2-meters) or so, hover a bit, check the controls (move the drone a bit forward, back, left, right, yaw left and right). By now, your Controller will probably report again, "Home point Updated."

If you go out in a rush and race thru your start up and take off before the drone has finished it prep, it may update its Home Point over that pond or that old tree you are flying over and in your excitement, you'll fly the drone long past it Low Battery point and when it engages Return to Home and lands in the pond or in a tree; it will be all on you…

Now go have fun, learn to fly the drone by sight before you try to fly it out a distance depending on the video feed, FPV.

I would also advise you to use YouTube and watch a lot of the Videos on flying and setting up the Drone. When it is too dark, too cold, or too wet, you can "fly it vicariously" through YouTube. Also watch some of the Blooper Drone Videos and learn how not to fly your "New Baby."

Fly On and Fly Safe…

welcome to the forum
to assist you with your question on places to fly ,in the first instance ,would be for you to tell us which drone you have
and also are you aware that in order to fly any DJI drone your need to obtain an operator ID which has to be displayed on the outside of your drone
visit the CAA website for all the details that govern flying a drone in the UK

Weald Wood, Grim's Dyke, Bentley Priory. All open areas, all relatively close to Harrow and all outside any airport restricted zones. Anything south-east of you is an altitude restricted zone, meaning you can fly, but you need to stay less than 120 feet AGL. If your drone is one of the mini's, you have more leeway with where you can fly, anything heavier and the rules change quite significantly. Search for CAP2012 online, download the PDF and it will tell you at a glance what you can and can't do legally.

Also: search online for Grey Arrows (dronescene.co.uk) - specifically for UK fliers. Good community that posts map data for good locations. You can also get very affordable insurance through them. Happy flying.

Fly On and Fly Safe…
Hey! thank you for you extensive and informative reply! very Helpful!

Yes, I did all the legal side of it and I have mi flyer ID and Drone operator, I even contracted an insurance.
I follow a number of YouTubers and accounts related to drones etc, so I am up to date.
I know in my area I am near to Heathrow and I can't risk it.
I think all it is the anxiety of the first flights and wanting to to the right thing all the time. I don't want to get in trouble , that's all.
But I will find the place somewhere safe and away from everything and start flying .
Thank Loudthunder!!
