Seagate and DJI launch "Fly Drive"!

I've just stumbled across this on a photography forum but sounds quite interesting for storing video footage. However i'm not sure if it has an integral power supply, otherwise it will be a bit pointless if you have to drag along a power bank or laptop..?!

pretty sure the power is through the USB, so you would need a computer for power and SD slot.

I am confused. It would have been an interesting product if it was battery powered and you could just stick the SD card in and it would read it and save the files without a PC. The product they are offering requires a Laptop, so why not just use my Laptops SD card reader and write the files to any of the four Passport drives I already have???

It's not sure at this point whether it's autonomous or not, logically it woulsd be but nothing confirms it. They kinda screwed that announcement up, probably want to wait until actual specs are posted.

It definitely requires a computer to work, no on board battery.

Maybe it has a rechargeable battery. I have had a Vosonic for a number of years for my photography, there is one that also does video. Vosonic VP8870 - Mobile-Harddisk.nl

For the field? I don't think so. I carry plenty of chips and deal with 4K at home with my laptop and raid
