Tether and float

I apologize if this is been brought up before. I searched and couldn’t find.

If doing a straight out and up shot over water, has anyone thought about tethering the drone with heavy test fishing line and some floats?

What's the purpose of the line and floats? Are you thinking your drone might crash/land into the water?

That’s the idea. It’s easier to recover a craft from land versus over water.

When I first started flying drones lost a drone on the second flight. Purchased another drone but this time I tied a 100m builders line to it and kept the line tankle free etc used a fishing reel. Sounded great as it took off with the fishing reel screaming out. After several flights confidence grew and now not needed. At least I did not loose another drone.
