I'm about to buy my M2P and ideally would like it to have Airsense capabilities. Would hate to buy the batch before they start rolling out the hardware needed so to speak. With that in mind my brain is querying the following and hoping any pilots here can shed some light now that we a few months after the Airsense initial announcement.
1. Has anyone seen if M2P will be fitted with Airsense yet? I'm presuming it will due to the weight of the unit. But that is presuming, I've not seen anything written.
1.With the roll out from 2020 onwards does anyone know (or is anyone able to "guestamate" based on a bit of understanding/info) when the hardware will be built into the new models.
2. I'm presuming it will be built into models from X date and then activated through firmware update on Y date? If anyone knows or can give an idea on those dates would be phenomenal but perhaps someone has info?? Maybe??
3. Is there possibly anyway to retro fit the Airsense hardware needed via DJI to run Airsense on craft? I don't know the size or complexity of the actual hardware.
Thanks everyone. I just would hate to buy and find out if i had waited a month /two it would have had the hardware fitted.
While I do know its not bullet proof and I'm not looking to use it to replace VLOS, anything to add safety is a good thing in my book. I know a lot of choppers and small planes (here in South Africa basically all of them) wont have the tech in them, it would be useful to rather have the tech available when traveling in US and UK going forward over the next couple years than not have it on board? Would be prepared to future proof my self that little bit more if i could find out implementation info?
Appreciate the input and maybe this starts some good thoughts for others. Any tech based around safety can only be a good step forward, even if it isn't in all manned craft ... it only needs to be in that one to assist and avoid an incident.
Thanking you.
Allan
