H-E-L-P !!!
My 'charging input' on my 'Mavic Pro Controller' has been damaged !
(I somehow plugged the cable in upside-down and damaged the small connector inside the female socket on the controller) :-(
-As a temporary measure (because I am on holiday in a beautiful setting) are there any other ways of charging my controller other than using that input?

[I believe that the other USB connector at the bottom of the controller won't charge the device right?]

Right. That sucks.
I'm afraid you will need to send it in for repair. This is exactly why many new mobile devices have a type C port now. You're definitely not the first to ruin his micro USB port.
I hope you still enjoy your holiday though.

Sorry about your problem. I know the plug seems to be upside down from from the symbol
showing up on the cord plug. I never remember how it is placed so need to double check every time I plug it in. If the plug on the RC is damaged I suppose you could send the RC in and get it repaired or I just noticed that some are for sale in the classifieds.

...problem is that I'm in South Africa and I need to FLY... I'm on holiday at the coast for 2-weeks !

I've sent a message to our local DJI repair specialists in South Africa to find out what their repair turnaround time would be, I'm awaiting their reply Monday morning...

I don't think I would try myself to put 2 Amps of current on that port. Maybe it works I don't know, but I would not do it.

QUESTION: Will I be able to charge the controller from the LOWER port or not?

No you can't unfortunately use the bottom port for charging

Thanks for that 'reefranger'.
Mine was terrified within 5-days here in South Africa.
(We usually battle to get spares here).
I'm now EXTREMELY cautious when using the plug - thanks for the 'mod-video clip' it's going to help MANY owners.

Its a poor design, let's hope dji moves over to the newer type of plug (even better, offer the replacement part with the new type of plug)!

hello i found a fix (disclaimer i knew i could possibly reck the controller and was willing to do so, i also did not leave charge unattended) i like wise was in the beautiful out of france pulling my hair out as i broke the charger connection, which is badly constructed. so what i did, took the battery connector out have a look in the picture i attached (use the video of how to dismantle remote) got a usb cable, cut the end off, cut extra wires that were not black or red. i then connected the red to red black to black on the battery by pushing the wires inside the white connector and hey presto, when i put it back together i had full charge after about 4-5 hours of charging. this obviously is not a long time fix as you have to dismantle the controller each time you want to charge, but if its an emergency or like me was ruining my holiday not being able to film it (sad i know) then this fix will get you some air time. don't leave it unattended when charging, I'm not sure what this bypasses by doing this so you may over charge if left to long. hope this helps and i am in no way promoting the complete unsafe destruction of a controller for some flight time
