"Hooray for Government shutdowns" Nice. When was the last Christmas you were told to stay home without pay and for who knows how long? Or worse, you were told you had to show up every day for your shift and but you weren't getting paid for it. 800,000 Americans aren't quite as enthused about the shutdown as you are. Oh well and by the way it's the law-enforcement folks in the National Parks are considered "essential", so they are at work.

Everybody eventually gets their back pay. Shutdowns are short lived. It's always made out to be a much bigger deal than it actually is, and if there are that many non-essential government workers then I think we can get rid of some.

Ever been made redundant? Ever worked for a company that went bust and didn’t give a s**t about their people. Miss a couple of payments on mortgage or rent or credit card and things can soon get out of control. Not being paid for work you’ve done is no joke! Especially at Christmas. Presidents and Prime Ministers, and politicians should stop playing with people’s livelihoods.

There have been many "shutdowns" in the past. If you work in government you should be prepared for it. They usually only last a week. Nobody is going to miss a mortgage or CC payment, even if this one lasts a month. Everyone that is now required to work without pay, and most likely everyone that is required to NOT work, will be paid when the shutdown is over.

No it isn't. Fly within the rules.

The employees might not be at work. But, that does not mean the rules governing visitors and their actions are withheld as well. So, if you plan to violate the rules and regulations, why not go all out and harvest a bison or two, or use a geyser as your own personal toilet. Just being facetious here. Park rules and regulations are still in effect. It is a preservation of wildlife and a respect for rules and regulations, even in absence of authority that is at issue. (At first, there were no airplanes at Gatwick, then there were!)

They get a paid vacation so stop asking like they are not getting paid...

"This might be the perfect time to get some great footage of Mt.Rushmor no government workers Horay for Government shutdowns". It's attitudes and actions like this that give drone flyers a bad name and result in more restrictions. Wake up and behave yourself, stop being stupid!

We don’t always get paid and some of us work and don’t get paid until the shutdown is over.

No! They absolutely don't all "eventually get their back pay." I know people here at Hill AFB that have NEVER been paid for days worked during the 13 shutdown.

News flash! I know people in DOD that NEVER got back pay from 2013. Quit acting like you understand how it all shakes out in a shutdown.

News flash. These petty arguments and insults are lame. You're 64 years old, try to relax a little bit.
