That wouldn't be a bad gig for kids though. Beats working at a Nike factory... :p

or making iphone/pads

Edit: Oh and DJI refurbs ;)

This is gonna end up getting really ugly for us, started off as a hobby & now my Mavic could go against National Security.. Lol.

Id be more worried about Murderous intent towards it's Capitalist Western Owner.

In the upcoming Childs Play remake; Charles Lee Ray should possess a Mavic 2.
Just as Lovable as a Good Guy Doll. And with 8331 props, he wont need a Kitchen Knife.

'DJI Drones: your Friend till the End'.
The demise of Chucky is assured, but there are a lot of ways he can go down :p

Come again? Typos are ok but when you leave out words..

I didn't leave out any words. Just added a sprinkle of sarcasm is all. They are not a friendly nation was the point.

Thanks for the quick comeback/clarification Thumbswayup

I think they have satellites that read number plates from space. Have a hard job to do that with my MP2 Then again there is street view and Google earth plus hours of footage on Youtube and Vimeo. Then again I didn't here CHINA was looking to invade or bomb anyone. Must have been some other country.

There are already ways to prevent what DHS is worried about that mustn't be discussed on this forum.
As long as you are AWARE you can defeat all intrusions of your data.
MavicPilots are up to the same data sharing thus the reason for free blogosphere.

I think it's important to note a few things about this incident that you seem to be over looking....

a) The aircraft sustained damage to one of the rotor blades enough to require replacement. Last price I saw was roughly $250K when all parts etc are added in.

b) thank God it landed without incident... it's a COMBAT aircraft designed to take some degree of a beating and still get the crew home. Do you think a lesser aircraft would have had the same outcome? Maybe but I'd say most likely NOT!

So laugh, cheer, jeer all you want but that incident is WAY too close for comfort for me and it SHOULD make every sUAS operator in the country (world even) at least uncomfortable.

Hands up if you got here by a Moderator making a debatable Post and then closing the Thread, saying the
same thing was going on here so I'll remark

a) Noeone overlooked that part, they didnt care. I think US Army can afford it

b) This point is a bit strange. So ill give you a strange answer, a Civilian Rotary wing aircraft, the kind that would have thinner rotors, would consequently have less rotors, so the drone would probably have flown betwen them

the rest is your HO, i only wanted to debate points a and b.
Enjoy your FLying
peace

Remember the news media is run by Chicken Little. Truth means nothing and sensationalism means everything!!!

Fear sells

same debate/thread was going on here so I'll continue
So I'll take up where he left off

Actually his post was on point and factual. Anyone that can look at a incident like the referenced Phantom vs UH-60 collision and come away with:

"The Helicopter returned to base without incident"
If it were a Mavic, I doubt they would not have even noticed.

Really have no concept of operating sUASs in the NAS and the implications of interfering with piloted aircraft.

They don’t need to now, pretty much almost (if not already) financially dominant worldwide and can simply take over whatever they want one day.
They have the numbers and military just in case someone has the audacity to say no.
We are mad selling our property (residential, commercial, farms both food bowl and grazing) to them, and they own some of our ports for goodness sakes !!
If live to see if the reverse could happen but China govco [emoji630] simply wouldn’t allow it.

You made it seem like the UH-60 was unharmed by the sUAS and I merely pointed out, accurately, that was not the case. The US Army is our US Tax dollars and to spend $250K to replace a damaged rotor blade from a negligent operator absolutely is of concern to US Tax Payers. Their money is out of OUR pockets.

You are off your base if the only argument you have is about "thinner rotor blades". The point is if the same object had impacted a Non-Combat designed rotor blade I seriously doubt the outcome would be the same.

No doubt if Captain Hindsight were here, he would tell me I shouldn't have
quipped about a incident apparently held dear to some fellow flyers in the Thread
and comment on something more definitively.

In his absence, Id like to respond to MAvic_South_Oz as he brings up a Topic point
Id like to reply to, keeping the thread on point, as tleedom would say

I found a few articles that referenced a "local data mode" that DJI came out with in response to concerns that were raised in 2017. I cant see much on it recently, maybe one of the forum vets could comment on this.

I dunno. But something tells me there's a really cool room at DJI HQ. It has a HUGE wall of screens that shows the location of every active DJI drone in the world that's connected to the Internet. Video and audio feeds from any given drone can be pulled up at will. Other feeds come in during "syncs". BTW: Facebook, Google, Verizon, Apple, Amazon. etc, etc. etc... they are all doing similar stuff with out data. Have a nice day! :)

Yea they need to spy through the drone technology
Anyone wishing to spy on America most likely is not gleaning enough valuable information from Alexa, Cortana or Siri.
Not to mention every smart phone , computer , Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning Julian Assange just to mention a few possible avenues to transfer classified information.

The internet, social media, you tube, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, every photo server in the cloud.
Google maps. spy satellites, bugged embassies, NASA photo sites....etc.

While DHS is worrying about a few mice we are getting trampled by 1000 elephants.
You can't un-ring a bell and you can't secure the ether in the cosmos but a few drone pictures and videos will shake loose the greatest secrets a country has to protect.

Give me a break, any third world hacker and member of the Mickey Mouse Club can get all the info they need and trump all other sources, (pun intended) simply by working with the Hillary campaign.

Ground all drones........ confiscate all images the sky is falling.

If the tariffs keep up we won't be able to afford to fly models from China. I expect hundreds of local manufactures to soon pick up the slack with US options... NOT!

Im trying to respond to this without sounding racialist/offending Russians, Australians, whomever, but..

I don't really see how we could go to (traditional) war with China as they are a pretty big part of Culture/Populice.
Especially so for Australia.
China needs America, all the world, to do good business.

China also has a lot of it's own Real Estate to spend it's World Domination Dollars on.
So i think if a changing of Who;s No1 happens, it will just happen (Dare I say like USSR)

Noone is nuking anyone over inflation.
And with so much information, traditional warfare is for wailing on smaller countries,
not for fighting your peers.
All I know is the next war is never fought like the last, and that seems to be super obvious in 2019.

Edit: When I say like USSR, I only mean they lost some of their economic power (afghanistan, Chernobyl)
and stuff happened.

Edit 2: You know what. Forget i even mention USSR. It was different thing completely, and doesnt relate to American situation
