this is completely false. Aside from Manhattan the rest is good to go. (For the most part)

Look up NYC 5 Boros Drone Meetups on Facebook. Those guys are the authority on this topic. They all fly legal, and are a great group.

If you are FAA 107 compliant, you can issue a LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability) request. Then, check this map to see if you have any altitude restriction. Most of Brooklyn has no restrictions, except over water, and some areas are either 400 or 200 feet limit zones.
