Seems like I'm always in the sun when flying, especially when near water. That can wash out most displays and make them pretty difficult to see. I've been looking into larger/brighter displays than DJI's RC2 controller, which is apparently about 700 nits (most android and iOS devices appear to be 500-700 nits with some approaching 1000). Brighter displays can be very pricey but I've recently been pointed toward the HugeRock X7 (7") which claims to be very rugged and have a brightness of 2600 nits for $499 (sounds crazy). Never heard of HugeRock which is a concern but curious to know if others have any experience with these tablets for flight. Any others I should be considering?
Thx -
Jim

I use the Tripltek 8" pro. 1000 nit, works with every drone I own. Downside is the one I have is an older version of Android but it all still works perfectly.

Agreed, I have faith in the Tripltek tables (I have the Mini and the 9 pro) and I wouldn't worry about the nits, the Tripltek products are plenty bright enough.

My only complaint it the lack of accessories for it for other uses. I also use mine for off-road navigation in my Jeep and on my quad. Never had an issue with anything else. Could be cheaper but it is worth it if it fits your needs

I think these have been around long enough to find them at good prices used. At this point in their life, I wouldn't buy one new so I'm thinking around half price. Yes, they only have a few mounts on their accessory page.

Instead of looking for a brighter display at great expense, the most practical solution to your problem is simply an RC 2 screen shade, or flying from underneath shade, such as a large umbrella, or even a dorky, but mobile and efficient $6 umbrella hat.

Feelworld Monitors have bright screens. I have an older model and it was at 2200 NITS

I have 2 methods for very sunny days 1. I try to find shade to stand in if it's also possible to watch the drone from that angle. 2. I took a baseball cap and stapled a long strip of thin black foam (used mostly for crafts) onto the brim and hold the controller under it. Not very professional but it helped a lot.

About sixteen bucks on Amazon. Kind of a pain to put on the first couple of times, but it gets much easier. Stretches into place for a perfect fit, like putting on a pair of socks. Durable, and no fiddly hinges. Doesn't interfere with controls, controller status lights, antennae, or accessory lanyard. Best of all, it really works to shade the display.

Although it takes an additional 30 seconds to set up in the field, I enjoy using my iPad Pro with its 11 inch screen attached to the controller with a Mav Mount. That gives me 4X the real estate.

Yea but that does not make the display brighter, which is what the OP asked for. Plus, that still won't stop reflections onto the screen and that is one of the other big issues.

Yes, for sure, take a look at the 7 and 10 inch monitor screens from Feel World monitors, they are 2,400 NITS of brightness but are just monitors. I use one with my S.C. and connect it to the HDMI plug and set it up as showing just what the camera is seeing. They are low cost too at around $235. I got an open box for $179. Feel World has been used in video and photography for years, for outside location work and monitoring of the camera view.

A guy on ebay was making mounts for $40 3D printing them. The Scandinavia mount maker (Thor, I think?) also has a mount for it, but at over $100. though excellent quality. Wearing a black T-Shirt also helps to reduce reflection off the screen. And like it or not, that umbrella hat, painted black inside would be perfect, other than in windy conditions.

You could always wear a backpack and strap a large golf umbrella to the straps to hold it in place, and again, paint the undersurface black.

Well, I guess I'm lucky, because reflections on the screen don't bother me when the $16 hood is in place on the controller. Another benefit of the hood is cost. No need to buy an additional $235 monitor screen and another $40-$100 for the mount, or a backpack with attached golf umbrella, or to paint the underside of that umbrella black, or to wear a black t-shirt, or other fussy solutions. But each to his own.

Now you're being silly stating pointless observations. You are just offering a hood for something. My suggestion is for what the OP asked for, a recommendation for a larger and brighter screen. All you have is a little partial sun cover, not really what the OP is looking for. Nice try pal.

As for your comments on the adapter mount etc., well, every optional monitor that people are suggesting here, which is what the OP is after, will have to have such a thing to hold it all together. Therefore, your observations about that, don't even come into play now, do they? I must have stuck a chord here, with you being so pedantic, all of a sudden.
