Bought and Tested the DJI RC Plus on Ebay that claims to work with the Mavic series of Drones. Guess What? IT DOES WORK! I'll tell you why.

You will have no problem with updating the fly app. Or the drone firmware which you already did.

You cannot except the one that says update controller firmware

Enjoy these are awesome controllers!
Yeah. First thing I did was update the app to the latest. Then turned off automatically check for updates. Then after binding I updated the fly sense thing.

I am glad to hear that the drone can be updated through the controller though. But I guess worse case scenario I still have the RC controller to use if need be.

Sounds to me like you have it figured out correctly

I did the same thing. Turn off auto update.

Enjoy You have a killer combination

Did everyone who bought one of these controllers get one of these strap brackets?

I’ve got an extra one since I bought the metal waist support kit if anyone is interested in it, just PM me.

I have that bracket on my Plus controller but had no idea what it does. Lol

Can you send me a photo of your controller with your new strap attached

Thank you!

I posted a picture the other day. But here’s a little different angle. The only difference between the one I have and the one that came on the controller is that the one pictured below has the extra arm that pushes the controller away from the body. The strap they sell is the same for both.

Hi Guys (and Gals),

Just ordered a RC Plus Controller on Ebay form a seller in China called Air Wander. He has a great rating and answered all my questions and addressed my concerns with shipment. I asked him specifically about upgrading or updating on the RC Plus and below are the messages to and from Air Wander regarding this. Look closely at the last message from him and let me know what you think??

It was my understanding that the DJI Fly App could be updated on the RC Plus, but the seller specifically stated it couldn't or shouldn't be changed???

Friend, after the system is matched, you cannot upgrade or update the system/restore factory settings, otherwise it may cause the product to be unable to reconnect to your drone. Thank you for your support.

I believe I understand. I will not be able to update or load new firmware to the controller. I will however, be able to upgrade or update the DJI Fly Application on the DJI RC PLUS Remote Controller to the latest version, correct?

Hello, my friend. In order to ensure the normal connection with the drone, the DJI Fly application cannot be upgraded or updated to the latest version. Thank you for your support, my friend.

I personally am running the newest release of DJI Fly app, which was released March 31, 2025

There are at least two other fellas I have seen on this thread, which have done the same

I am running an Air 2S. One is running a Mavic 3 pro. And I forgot what the third is running.

None of us have had any issues updating the fly app or the fly safe database

You must, however, avoid the firmware upgrade, which states controller

That’s who I ordered mine from. And I definitely upgraded the app - it wouldn’t bind with my Mavic 3 pro otherwise.

Used the new RC Plus for the first time today on a job. Not only was it super comfortable (having the harness and bracket) but it looked and worked flawlessly. Super bright screen, nice spacing of the sticks. I also like the fact that the harness bracket arms don’t get in the way of the sticks or the screen (maybe a little when it comes to touching certain parts of the screen). This thing is a beast and I’m much happier using it than the standard RC.

Sunday I’ll use it with DroneLink to map a small property with my Air 2S so we’ll see how easy it is to get all that working.

Flew my first mapping mission with DroneLink and the RC plus. One thing that you will need to do is force close out of the DJI fly app through settings, not by swiping up from the app switcher. I also went in and disabled fly app to auto start. Unlike when I used it on iPad where I needed both the DJI fly app to get the drone off the ground and DroneLink to fly the job, the RC Plus will fly exclusively with drone link.

Connection and stability has been excellent. I think the antennas are a lot more motel than the standard RC N1. Battery life has been amazing too.

The controller fan does get a little noisy though.

Hello everyone,
I also bought the RC Plus on Ebay and the controller itself is outstanding.

I only have a small problem with the compass, which is probably out of sync due to being shipped all over the world.

In the bottom left corner of the DJI Fly app you can set the ‘compass view’, where it shows you the direction of your drone. However, when the drone is flying directly in front of me, it is not displayed in front of me but almost 90 degrees to the right.

I have already successfully calibrated the drone's compass, but I am failing to calibrate the controller's compass via the settings menu.

When I click on "Start calibration", it says "calibration is successful" immediately, even if I haven't done anything yet.

And another thing:

I have deactivated the automatic search for updates in the DJI Fly app, but the update for the controller firmware is still shown to me every time in the home view. I have now set the controller to local data mode as a precaution, but this means I lose the map view in the fly app.

Is there another way to stop the update being displayed every time I start the app?

Thank you very much

The setting for the controller firmware updates are located in the "Profile" settings not the Fly app. Slide the button to off and it's done.

Hello, i have disabled these settings in the Fly App below, but the Firmware Update shows up for me every boot.

Do you mean these settings or are there other settings to disable?

Yes, I am having the same problem. Constantly getting the Pop-Up message. Now says in upper right (under the Academy selection. "Update Resource for DJI RC Pro Download" where "Download" is in Light Blue.

This is really frustrating, I believe I have tried everything, but I can't seem to get rid of the "Update Firmware" prompt. I really am worried at this will get selected by accident and I "BRICK" my controller.

You can always enable the Local Data Mode:

In the home screen of the DJI Fly App click on Profile, when on Settings and Notification and Privacy. Here you can toggle on "Local Data Mode".

This will disable all firwmare update functionality but you will loose the map function in the Fly App

I think you can preload it, but that does not help, because when you try to open the map it will say that the map function is not working in local data mode.
