Hey Guys,

I bought a Mavic Mini fly pack with the 3 batteries. I wanted to learn how to fly so I thought this would be a good starter.

I am a photographer, so I’d like to get into the much more expensive drones with the much better cameras.

So far I have learned flying without GPS is very hard. And you can’t fly these guys in the in early morning or sunset apparently because the GPS doesn’t work I didn’t think that mattered since it’s satellites.

I look forward those to posting! and I’m always open to any advice from anybody.

Right -- the time of day should not matter. Perhaps something else was causing that issue?

It's good to start with something on the lower end (as you did) until you get used to it and see if it is even something you will enjoy and need.

It may be harder than flying with GPS lock, but flying in ATTI mode is a good and critical skill for any pilot to have.

Time of day has absolutely nothing to do with GPD reception. There must be another issue at play here.

As others have already stated, go slow, read the entire user manual, and learn the laws and regulations regarding safe and legal flying. Related to that if you will be using your drone in any capacity for you photography business, you will need to get your Part 107 certificate. You cannot use your drone for your photography business as a recreational pilot.

Be safe and have fun!

Welcome to our forum, from Texas!

You'll find that the Mini 2almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini 2, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days--you get those in PA--it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual, and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have several fellow Iowans among our membership, and over 120,000 more from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Glad you've joined us!

Hi,

Yes, the issue was me not waiting long enough. I guess for some reason, It was taking long and for some reason did not link up. I did try it the next night and linked up fine.

I am not using using for any business related photography right now. Just for pleasure. So far I have been flying around my house literally. just getting to know how to fly it with the camera. low around my house.

Things like that.
