New Product ! Lunar Landing Pad is shipping

A few things, I'd probably give up and make one in orange with an "H" on it to make people happy, just saying. Some may still use it as a landing pad and might want precision landing to work. I'd also consider a larger one as an option, easy to tool and adds variety with some security for the more nervous fliers out there. Lastly, a zippered, padded vinyl cover/bag/case would go a long way towards making me feel better about carrying my drone around using it.

BTW you didn't get this idea from my post about using a plastic garbage can lid to launch my Mavic Pro back in the day, hmmmm??? Hahahaha! I velcroed a landing pad to a lid to catch my drone on a boat... Yea this is WAY better!

Im thinking that the Precision landing does not need a H but just somethiing that is Distinctive and can only be used with the RTH so all that should work with the Lunar Landing Pad if you have that feature checked.

Thank you for the interest, and the props.

Sorry, the "H" is for all the wanna be pilots around here. The bright orange is for precision landing. Any thoughts on a case/cover?

Sweet! You could make it look like a pizza box or cake transporter! I was thinking something like the cover that comes with a landing pad but your idea is probably a lot better.

Just cannot get myself to make it look like a cake, lol I cant do it. Streamline is on the design floor.
I will keep you posted.

I got my Lunar Landing Pad in today and LOVE IT!

Very well done and it looks sharp.

Unfortunately we're in a very STORMY pattern at the moment but as soon as this passes I will be getting outside and practice the landing methods with my new LLP.

Thanks Coal and the Gang at Phantom Rain.ORG! I look forward to reporting back after I get some use on it.

@Phantomrain.org I got to finally try out my LLP yesterday and LOVED it! It worked exactly as expected/desired. I made 4 landings in tall grass (would have been a hand catch for sure) onto the LLP and it was super easy. I didn't disable any sensors or anything, I just did a normal landing onto the pad with my outstretched hand supporting it.

Very well done! Thank you for your products and support.

I emailed you this morning but did not get a reply. Hoping this gets to you.

The Lunar Landing Pad is a Revolutionary new way of Hand Catching your drone.*

It's Safe / Fast and very Secure and even minimizes the risk of Hand Catching and launching your drone.

Hand Launching with the Lunar Pad is so effortless that you won't think twice about using it and helps to avoid Magnetic interference and Compass errors.

The Lunar Pad changes the time spent searching for a place to take off and land. Extreme weather / wind / snow / rain no longer such a big factor when landing or taking off.

*The Lunar Pad also provides a Fast and Secure method of carrying your drone*, controller and some extra batteries.

Unlike a normal case, the Lunar Pad/Case is Transparent and nothing is hidden to cause any suspicions of what you are carrying.

The Lunar pad uses 6 Custom Made Velcro straps that are self locking to secure what it carries, and utilized custom Cut outs to keep everything in place.

The self Locking feature keeping the straps locked in at all times because of their large size, they work well with gloves.

The Lunar Pad allows for a Quick Launch for an immediate take off, providing a really fast execution. Perfect for search and rescues.

*Calibration has never been easier - no more spinning around* - The Lunar pad allows you to spin the drone making for a perfect calibration .

They are Custom Built to the tools we use the most and the Lunar Pad completely enhances the Mavic Flying Experience.

My favorite feature is simply knowing that at a glance that I have everything I need for a flight.

Currently we are offering 3 designs for the Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom the Mavic Pro/Plantinum and the Mavic Air.
Each Lunar Pad has the Ability to Carry 5 Batteries if the 2 Utility Slots are used.

Hmm... $99 for that? Sorry, but I can't get the purpose of it. Especially for that money. Maybe it makes launching and catching easier but what about the in between? Once you launch, what you should do with it? Throw it away? With all the gear strapped to it? What about carrying this stuff around? I hope I don't offend anybody here (if I do, I am really sorry) but for me, this is the most ridiculous gadget for the drone ever invented.

I just go my Lunar Pad and did my first couple landings , no learning curve needed , just really simple to land your drone.

Most of my flights are at the beach and I always have to worry about blowing sand when taking off or landing not to mention avoiding the kids wanting to run up on the drone, so this beats the stress of hand catching.

I also like the fact that I can lay this down on any surface and take off , huge time saver not having to find the perfect spot.

Bottom line I feel much more in control of my drone and the Lunar Pad made it safer for everyone to be around the drone . Thumbswayup

I am glad its working for you, but still is not justifying the price tag of $99. You can hand launch and land the drone very easy. Few tries, and it will become very natural to you, and safe, if you do that properly. My 6 year old boy has mastered hand launching and landing my Mavic Air after few tries, which is more difficult to handle, than the bigger Mavic 2 (my current drone). A piece of thick cardboard will do the same trick and will cost you next to nothing.

Just want to add my appreciation for the Lunar Pad, and the outstanding customer service provided by Coal at @Phantomrain.org! After I received my first pad, I made a few suggestions to Coal. He immediately made improvements and sent me a replacement pad. It's a well-made product and well worth the money. Besides hand launching/landing, it provides a clean, flat landing area for places where the grass is too tall (not much clearance between the M2P gimbal and ground), where there's dirt, sand, or wet ground, or where there are rocks or an uneven surface. If you're transporting your drone out in the field a lot, this is a great item to add to your toolkit.

I might not have made it clear in this post but the Lunar Pad acts as Carrying Case for your drone .

If you make money with your drone , you simply cannot beat this system. Just knowing that Im ready for take off makes any job easier .

Honestly the benefits are to many to list but my favorite is having a secure place for the Smart Controller to snap into that will alow me to continue the fight without having to put it inside of a traditional case.

Wind is always present where I live and cases can blow right off the rocks , the Lunar Pad has some weight to it so im confident that its not going to blow out sea.

The Lunar pad offers a really snug fit so as the components stay locked inside with or without the straps for added security.

One thing , you have backwards is the Air is much easier to Catch than the Mavic 2 .

For me, it's still worthless accessory. Carrying case? What case is that, where all the carried equipment is fully exposed to the elements. I am really sorry, but I am not buying this whole concept, which doesnt mean, it can be appreciated by someone else.
Regards, and all the best...

I certainly wouldn’t want to be carrying my aircraft around unprotected from the elements/knocks.
Also, I don’t think this would work for the RC+iPad usage - the combined weight plus the mount (even if aluminium) makes one hand operation of the RC impractical. It still needs an additional bag for the rest of the equipment most professionals would be carrying, but for hobbyist pilots, I can see how it might be useful.

Can't figure out how a landing pad provides more control or makes it safer for others to be around a drone?
