What does "Mavic" mean...?

... and why "Pro"? Is the Mavic "Am" any good? I might buy one. "Pro" brings to mind condoms being available only in sizes "Large", "Extra Large" and "Ouch STOP".

Spent a lengthy minute or so Googling the word mavic and drew a blank. Other than the bicycle parts manufacturer Mavic, nothing. On a sidenote, I wonder whether that company will be a bit cross that their trading name has been used by DJI?

There is a Montenegrin footballer called Savic who apparently plays for Atlético Madrid but other than him, even words that rhyme with Mavic are thin on the ground. This is a good thing because it means we're unlikely to see many poems written which include the word mavic. I have a fairly severe dislike of poetry.

I agree... I think there were several references to the "Maverick" pre-release.... maybe something (like a trademark issue perhaps) made them change it?...

Nope. Mavica means MAgnetic VIdeo CAmera, which it was. This is why it used floppy disks rather than any kind of CF card. Mavic is a Nigerian word that means Victory.
