Thought I would start this thread simply because there has always been one on each forum within the Drone Pilots Network.
As time moves forward, antenna and controller modifications will become the norm with the MA..
As many of us know, we don’t expect huge distances or range from the MA, however we will see it and it will most likely exceed DJI’s official range specifications.
Please post your best here. Please be sure to add what mods or extra gear you have used to achieve the best distance and range from your Mavic Air.
I know many of us will try to push this little aircraft to it’s max!, Battery permitting for out of box..
Here is what I need to keep the board up to date.
If you would like to be added, please post the following:

  • Screenshot showing the maximum distance from home point, either from the DJI Go App, or Air Data. Note: Your aircraft badge (logo) must be present in your screenshots.

  • A flight log will prove your flight, however is not required for the board. If said flight entry is questioned by other members currently on the board, then the entry must be proven with a flight log.

  • Any videos of your flight are welcome to prove your entry.

  • Please describe the flying environment, such as Interference from Trees, Hills, Buildings, Etc.

  • What type of Mods, if any, such as Antenna Upgrades, Battery mods, Etc.

  • Tag me in the post so that I get a notification. @Long Ranger if you want to be added.
The list is displayed in Meters to help keep the board simple and organized.
Good Luck Pilots!

I did this flight today.

It was extremely cold. It was extremely windy and turbulent at the far end of the lake. A few times I thought I was going to loose the drone but it managed to make it all the way home! I’ll be uploading a video of this flight and comparing to my Mavic Pro. It was 5f (-15c) for the flight.

Nice! That’s very good!Thumbswayup Surprisingly!

Yeah over a frozen lake with nobody around. I’ll be uploading a video where I ran the MP to the end of the valley and then did the same run with the MA.

That's awesome!! Plenty distance for me

Hope you all always start off flying into the wind so you have a successful return with the wind to its back for the return . This is how drones get lost so be smart , its not worth losing you new Mavic Air or Pro over.

Well, us poor Eurpoeans are signally disadvantaged thanks to the CE signal restrictions.... yet managed this today... Into the wind and returning with the wind... 1800 metres out... which surprised me immensely...

Was your video were you had multiple IMU issues on the way back? If so glad it made it home.

I had multiple Attitude and sensor errors but no IMU errors on this particalar flight. But for my furthest ever flight, I too was glad it made it home :)

Hey guys,, I need a few more post so that I can start processing the board accordingly. Let others know. The board will start on the first post of this thread. Thanks, LR.;)

Yep that’s me.

Beautiful location but I am so averse to the cold which is why I moved to sunny Sydney Australia. I tried my first range test with my Air yesterday evening, only got 1.2km before total signal loss that triggered RTH and landed within an inch of of the takeoff point so that was impressive. Location was semi rural over most open green land with few buildings and on 2.4ghz band.

What I don’t know is if here in Australia the Air is operating in FCC or CE output power modes or how I can tell? Both would be legal here in Australia.

I suspect from such short range it may be CE which is a shame

Ok, sorry guys for the delay, having some issues with editing the board.
Stay tuned!:D.

Air.PNG This one was just a test run(3rd flight) landed with 30 odd percent battery, and had good signal (2.4) so i think there is probably another 1000m in it yet

Air 2.PNG Pushed out another 500mtrs the wind on the way back nearly caught me out...landed with 0% battery
