Remote Charging iPhone NOT charging iPad

The M2 remote will charge my iPhone 7plus whether the charging is activated or not in the App yet the M2 remote will NOT charge my iPad Mini. Any ideas Guys?

my iPad mini 4 had a failing battery and would not cooperate with the charging feature. When it would connect it would suck the controller batteries to 50% in one flight. I sent the iPad in for a new battery ($110) and now everything works fine. But I don’t leave the charging function on because my iPad now has plenty of battery for multiple flights
